Infection Atlas
The Infection Atlas is a joint effort by HIRI, the Single Cell Center, and the DFG-funded CRC DECIDE (DECisions in Infectious DisEases). Pathogens profoundly alter the anatomy of infected tissues and exhibit specific tropisms for long-term persistence. Within our consortium, we use single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics to describe how pathogens modify tissues. We also leverage time-resolved single-cell RNA-seq to describe how cells respond to infections. The host-pathogen arms race is leading to molecular decision points that determine the fate and outcome of an infection. By making the data freely available and browsable, we aim to provide the community with an essential tool for gaining novel insights into infection biology.
